“We see the Japanese hotpot concept of Shabu-Shabu and Sukiyaki as a symbol of kinship and togetherness. Sharing a meal is a key ingredient in our years of friendship, which is why we seized the opportunity to bring Mo-Mo-Paradise to Malaysia,” said Yap Chor Wen, Co-Founder of Mo-Mo Paradise Malaysia.

“Malaysia is a haven for anyone who loves to discover and enjoy all types of good food. Yet, we find many Malaysian foodies who often misinterpret the different styles of Japanese hotpot. The idea is to educate fellow Malaysian food hunters on the distinct styles of Shabu-Shabu and Sukiyaki, as well as to provide an authentic Japanese experience, without the hefty plane ticket prices to Japan!”

For a richer, sweet-salty flavour, customers can opt for Sukiyaki, the traditional broth from Shoudo Island.

At Mo-Mo Paradise, team members will be there every step of the way, to guide you through the process of choosing your meats, right up to cooking at the table. For example, if you are new to  Mo-Mo Paradise, its staff will demonstrate the right way to enjoy this Shabu-Shabu.

This Japanese hotpot dish consists of thinly sliced meat and vegetables that are boiled in water. Cooked piece by piece, the food is cooked by the diner at the table!

Beef Selection For Shabu Shabu

An onomatopoeic term, Shabu-Shabu refers to the sound emitted when the ingredients are stirred in the cooking pot before it is served with dipping sauces.

Similar to Shabu-Shabu, Sukiyaki also cooks thinly sliced meat and vegetables before serving with a dipping sauce.

Sukiyaki At Mo Mo Paradise malaysia

What makes it different is the method of cooking, as well as the distinctive broth and dipping sauce. With Sukiyaki, you put all vegetables and meat together in a pot of simmering broth. The broth has a rich flavour, made of salty-sweet soy-based seasoning.

ISHIN JAPANESE RESTAURANT OLD KLANG ROAD KUALA LUMPUR

Japanese Restaurant Old Klang Road

Ishin Japanese Restaurant located at 202, Persiaran Klang, Batu 3 3/4, Off Old Klang Road, 58000 Kuala Lumpur is very popular for bringing in premium Japanese produce to be savoured by its avid followers.

Japanese Restaurant Old Klang Road

Each time you dine at Ishin Japanese Restaurant; you will have a sense of having had a satisfying meal. This is due to the experience that Chefs has to serve their Japanese dishes to suit the demanding palate of its diners especially the current season produce of Japan.

Gyuniku Tataki Ishin Japanese Restaurant Old Klang Road

We had a chance to taste out; some of the speciality dishes at Ishin Japanese Restaurant recently. To start off our dinner; we ordered the Gyuniku Tataki. Using the premium sirloin cut, the beef is grilled to medium rare, sliced and served with grated radish/ fresh chillies, minced garlic and chopped scallions. You can mince on the soft texture of the beef which marries perfectly to the citrusy sauce that came with it.

Dobin Mushi – Tea Pot Clear Soup Ishin Japanese Restaurant Old Klang Road

One can't miss out having this Dobin Mushi – Tea Pot Clear Soup. It is a clear broth with a nice clean taste. We like how it was presented and how to get the maximum taste. You start off drinking the clear soup from the teacup as it is. This ensures that you taste out the natural flavour of the soup.

Dobin Mushi – Tea Pot Clear Soup Ishin Japanese Restaurant Old Klang Road

Then you can add a tinge of lime to it and it takes you to another level of taste. As you enjoy the soup, you can take off the teapot covers where you will find a prawn, shiitake mushroom and soft Taufoo which you can eat it.

Sashimi Moriawase - Chef Selection Ishin Japanese Restaurant Old Klang Road

A Japanese dinner isn't complete without an order of Sashimi. For tonight we ordered the Sashimi Moriawase - Chef Selection. One of the reasons why diners keep coming back to Ishin Japanese Restaurant is the sashimi offering for the freshness of the seafood. The clam was very nice with the chewy texture; while the flying fish was superb and the prawn with a bouncy texture that has you lingering for more.

Hokkaido King Crab with Duck Liver Ishin Japanese Restaurant Old Klang Road

Our next dish from the Teppanyaki menu is indeed an interesting offering which is the Hokkaido King Crab with Duck Liver. This dish called for the use of two exquisite ingredients namely Foie Gras and the Hokkaido King Crab. The duck liver is lightly teppan-fried which has a slight char on the outside and melt in the mouth texture on the inside and is served with meaty crab over butter, soy sauce and fried garlic for the extra flavour.

Tori Kaarage Ishin Japanese Restaurant Old Klang Road

For the deep fried dish, we ordered the Tori Kaarage. Unlike the Tori Kaarage which are served at other restaurants; at Ishin, each piece of chicken meat is crafted to have only a thin layer of meat; This makes eating this Kaarage a real delight as you can taste the crunchy and crispy combination all in one bite as compared with others which has a big chunks of meat.

Matsuzaka Wagyu Beef Stone Grill Ishin Japanese Restaurant Old Klang Road

The star of the night is our order of the Matsuzaka Wagyu Beef Stone Grill. This wagyu steak is cooked on a hot stone over an open flame. You got a choice of either having the staff to grill it and you can DIY. The premium Wagyu meat leaves up to its name and the marbling of the steak was nice and of course, you can experience not only the sound of the grill, the aroma and every bite of this melt in mouth texture and taste.

Matsuzaka Wagyu Beef Stone Grill Ishin Japanese Restaurant Old Klang Road

The dish comes with a sauce which is a concoction of miso and salt, but frankly, I love the lightly grill soft texture and its natural taste of this premium cut of Wagyu.

Yaki Udon Ishin Japanese Restaurant Old Klang Road

Finally, if you still have any stomach space left; you can order the Yaki Udon to fill up your space. The Yaki Udon is stir-fried with chicken and vegetables, topped with bonito flakes for extra flavour.

Mix Fruit Platter Ishin Japanese Restaurant Old Klang Road

After a hearty meal, we decided to have a refreshing order of Mix Fruits Platter to cleanse our palate.

Musang King Ice Cream Ishin Japanese Restaurant Old Klang Road

As we were ordering our dessert, the staff recommended us to try a not on the menu Musang King ice-cream; which as a fan of the king of Fruit; it was a no-brainer to order it. Taste wise was not too bad, but if they were Musang King flesh in it, it would have made it to my must-eat list.

Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant New Menu 2018 Old Klang Road Kuala Lumpur

Affordable Premium Quality Japanese Dishes - Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant @Old Klang Road.

It is a norm that quality seasonal Japanese food is very pricier; the price is due to the way the food arrives in Malaysia which is usually air-flown. Nowadays, we are a little bit luckier in that many Japanese restaurants has started to bring the seasonal ingredients to Malaysia for us to taste the fine quality of these items.

At Kimi Ya Japanese Restaurant which is located at G-2, Avantas Residences, 162 Jalan Klang Lama, Kuala Lumpur for the month of May is serving these delicacies to its customers which will not burn a hole in your wallet.

There are a number of seasonal fish that will be available at Kimi-Ya among them are the Leather Jacket, Scorpion Fish, Gurnard, Ren-Kodai, Isaki, King Crab and more.

Among my favourite for the upcoming promotion is the Kagoshima Wagyu (120 grams). These prized cuts are air flown in from Japan. Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant used to serving the Australian Wagyu Beef at its outlet but have now switched to serve the Japanese Wagyu for its patron to enjoy the quality, texture and taste which is much better although a little pricier.

Kagoshima Wagyu - Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant New Menu 2018 Old Klang Road Kuala Lumpur

The Kagoshima Wagyu was lightly grilled Teppan-style with a simple dash of salt and pepper to bring out the true flavours of the melt in mouth texture. Served with bean spout at the sides with Teriyaki sauce.

Taraba Gani (Grilled King Crab with Salt) - Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant New Menu 2018 Old Klang Road Kuala Lumpur

We were served with one of the delicacies which are Taraba Gani (Grilled King Crab with Salt). What I like about Japanese food is to eat its natural taste of the King Crab. The meat was succulent with a nice natural salty taste which was enhanced by the simple grilling of the king crab.

Matsu Sashimi Moriawase - Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant New Menu 2018 Old Klang Road Kuala Lumpur

Talking about natural taste, the Matsu Sashimi Moriawase which has 7 Types is another good example of tasting the natural flavours of the ingredients; here we were served with Salmon, White Tuna, Amberjack and Tuna Belly, Scallop, Octopus and Pink Shrimp. You can really taste the freshness of the sashimi which has a nice soft texture.

Kaori Bako Kani (Salad Crabmeat with Assorted Vegetables) - Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant New Menu 2018 Old Klang Road Kuala Lumpur

For our order of the salad, it was the Kaori Bako Kani (Salad Crabmeat with Assorted Vegetables) which has salad and topped with a dollop of crabmeat with Sesame dressing.

Yaki Pirikara Edamame - Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant New Menu 2018 Old Klang Road Kuala Lumpur

Many of us fancy the edamame as a favourite snack before and after a meal; but at Kimi-Ya, the Chef has made a slight twist to this snack food which after boiling it; the edamame is slightly grill and tossed with chilli flakes. This dish is called the Yaki Pirikara Edamame.

Teriyaki Foie Gras - Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant New Menu 2018 Old Klang Road Kuala Lumpur

Another one of the speciality dishes at Kimi-Ya is the Teriyaki Foie Gras  (2 pcs). The Foie Gras is Pan fried with a coating of Teriyaki sauce that encapsulate the entire piece of thick and succulent Foie Gras. Served with a bed of Brown mushroom.

Curry Udon - Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant New Menu 2018 Old Klang Road Kuala Lumpur

To fill your stomach, for Udon fans, you can try out the Curry Udon. The Udon is in-house made and has a silky smooth texture that makes slurping this noodle a nice feel.

Zaru Soba which is Cold Buckwheat Noodles served with Dipping Sauce - Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant New Menu 2018 Old Klang Road Kuala Lumpur

For me, I still love the Zaru Soba which is Cold Buckwheat Noodles served with Dipping Sauce. I really love the cold Soba which is also in-house made and dip into the special dipping sauce which we will add in the quail eggs, spring onion and wasabi. This is, in fact, the best way for me to enjoy this Cold Soba.

Warabi Mochi - Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant New Menu 2018 Old Klang Road Kuala Lumpur

Finally, for dessert, we were served with the Warabi- Mochi which is bracken starch dumpling served with Brown Sugar Syrup and Soybean Powder. We love the texture of the mochi which has a melt in mouth feeling when we bite into the mochi and the syrup was at the right sweetness level.

Japanese Musk Melon - Kimi-Ya Japanese Restaurant New Menu 2018 Old Klang Road Kuala Lumpur

Another one of air flown item is the Japanese Musk Melon which is famed for its unique natural juicy sweetness.

KOUZU BANGSAR BAR | Modern Japanese Dining at Kouzu Bangsar Bar

KOUZU BANGSAR - A Touch Of Modern Japanese Dining

Bangsar Food: KOUZU Bangsar

Following the success of Kouzu TTDI, the management has decided to open its' second outlet in Bangsar. Kouzu Bangsar which is located at 19, Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar Baru, 59100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Bangsar Food: KOUZU Bangsar Dining Room

Kouzu which means a compilation of good deeds and good fortune, while offering something new by bringing a sophisticated twist to the traditional Japanese restaurant. The ethos behind Kouzu is to deliver authentic flavour of the east combined with modern and progressive Japanese cuisine at an affordable price.

KOUZU Bangsar Bar Watering Hole

From the outside, one can easily be mistaken Kouzu Bangsar; as another bar restaurant which is famous in this Bangsar area. Once you open up the restaurant menu; you will see a menu that has a full list of Japanese tapas and other popular dishes.

KOUZU Bangsar Bar Grafitti and Manga Wall Art

The sharp coloured character of the Japanese manga graffiti on the side wall gives a bold statement of welcome to its guest. There is a twist to the Japanese dishes served at Kouzu Bangsar as the Chef has added some creativity and twist to some of these dishes among them are as follows;

Yasai Heritage Salad @KOUZU Bangsar Bar

Our review started with an order of the Yasai Heritage Salad (RM17) - This multicoloured salad consists of Point Pennywort, Cosmos Candatus, Point Selom, Sakura Ebi, Orange Yuzu, Grated Coconut with a Ponzu Vinaigrette dressing.

KOUZU Bangsar Bar Restaurant Asari Sakamushi

This is then followed by the Asari Sakamushi (RM22) - the soup has a strong mushroom taste which is from the truffle oil that was used to cook this dish. Usually, Japanese soup dishes are not served with a bread but here it is served with a toasted Bruschetta.

KOUZU Bangsar Bar Restaurant Blue Fin Tuna & Foie Gras

The next dish is the Blue Fin Tuna & Foie Gras (RM29).  This is a real classic example of marrying of an East Meets Wests dish. You would never have experienced this fusion. The Tuna was lightly an fried which still has the soft sashimi texture. The enclosed sauce is made out of apple chutney with unagi which went perfectly with both the ingredient.

KOUZU Bangsar Bar Restaurant Gyoza Kaisen

The next appetiser is rather unique in a sense which is Gyoza Kaisen  (RM22). Japanese Gyoza filling is usually either chicken or pork meat, but very few would serve a filling of seafood. As a seafood lover thumbs up for this dish.

KOUZU Bangsar Bar Restaurant Avocado Miso Gratin

Another one of the special dishes is this simple looking Avocado Miso Gratin (RM26). This gratin is filled with seafood such as shrimp, scallop, crab stick and Ebiko with a strong hint of the mushroom and miso taste.

KOUZU Bangsar Bar Restaurant Angel Hair Pasta

The next dish is a pasta dish which is called Angel Hair Pasta (RM22). I am not a real fan of pasta but this pasta which is served with creamy mentaiko roe that triggers my taste bud. The pasta is served in a roll and topped with caviar and Ebiko that gives this dish a special taste and texture.

KOUZU Bangsar Bar Restaurant Kouzu Don

For the rice dish, we were recommended to taste the Kouzu Don (RM29). This rice dish is served with a slice of grilled sirloin steak which is topped with a truffle teriyaki sauce. Other condiments in the Don; is the Onsen Tamago, Foie Gras, crispy garlic. Mix all the condiments and you have a uniquely flavoured Don.

KOUZU Bangsar Bar Restaurant Salmon Kabuki Roll

For the sushi rolls, we were served 2 type; the first of which is the Salmon Kabuki Roll (RM18) which has ingredients such as sliced salmon, ebiko, foie gras, cucumber, caviar, chives, avocado pulp, wasabi mayo and teriyaki.

KOUZU Bangsar Bar Restaurant Umami Rolls

While the second sushi roll is the Umami Roll (RM20) which is also loaded with unagi, tatura cheese, ebiko, wasabi mayo and teriyaki.

KOUZU Bangsar Bar Restaurant Yakitori Selection

One of my favourite Japanese dishes is the Yakitori, At Kouzu Bangsar, you can order individual stick; We made an order of  Chicken Wing, Rack Of Lambs, Smoke Duck, Rock Lobster and King Mushroom. Nicely grilled with a light salty taste; it is perfect with a nice cold icy drink. There are many other types of meat, seafood and vegetable yakitori that you can order from the menu.

KOUZU Bangsar Bar Restaurant VVIP Private Dining Room

For a private dining experience, Kouzu Bangsar also has a VVIP room where you dine with your group of friends and guests.

I am not really a fan of fusion dishes as there are many failures to create a new taste but yet having the original taste in mind. At Kouzu Bangsar, I find the Chef creative use of premium ingredients together with the right condiment that makes Kouzu Japanese dishes really stand out.
