HPPNK 2017 Hari Peladang Malaysia Food Fest MAEPS Serdang Selangor

There are a lot of activities and learning experience in this year HPPNK 2017 Hari Peladang Malaysia Food Fest happening at MAEPS Serdang from 28th September 2017 to 1st October 2017 10.00am to 10.00pm.

Guest and trade visitors will be able to look for business opportunities in the agricultural sector. Ranging from farm equipment to seedlings and right to the final food product, there is definitely a lot to start with.

Families will be able to join in this HPPNK 2017 festivities while learning and to be able to guide their young on the importance of agriculture industry as a job and business opportunities.

One of the things that we learn today is the availability of laughing chicken (Ayam Ketawa). Yes, apparently this species from Indonesia origin of chicken makes sounds that mimic a person laugh.

Too bad when we were there it did not crow probably due to the large crowd at the booth (but the above is a video depicting a similar Ayam Ketawa).

There are also petting zoo for you to really get up close to these farms animals.

The second thing is the Stingless Bees Honey, last year at MAHA 2016, we tasted it fresh from the nest. You can check it out at this link. But, this year they serve us this honey with a texture similar to a salmon roe, where you can pop it in your mouth with a bursting sourish sweet natural taste of this honey.

You can also try out a new product which is Virgin Coconut Oil

And the last exciting avenues is on our last stop at the Food Empayar which I will run thru some of the delicious fare on offer. But for now, some of the other highlights include a cooking demonstration by Celebrity Chef. We only have gotten to see the Chef At Pacific West in action.

Next, we visit the Pineapple booth which showcases its prized pineapples which is MD2 species. This species is a sweet tasting hybrid that is now planted all over Malaysia. Recent research has yielded from the juice to become extract that is Bromelain.

Pineapple Juice from Bob

There are also the King of Fruits store where you can taste the D24 and Musang King varieties that are on sales there. While you are there you can also taste the new durian based food like ice cream and more.

or you can buy some fruits plants on your way home.

Agrobazzar is another stop that you must visit, as there are many Malaysian made food products that are available for you to taste and to buy home.

Examples of these are the Asam Boi Kedondong

Ready-made food

While you can also taste the flavourful Tuna satay which has the texture of the chicken but a healthier option.

Bird Nest

Other interesting things to do is the contest where you guess the weight of the Lembu Sado with RM20,000.00 prizes to be won.

Or you can guess the number of fruits in this jackfruits

or you can take part in the cooking competition to show your cooking prowess

But for me, the most important one that must not be missed are the loads and loads of food to be eaten at the Food Empayar

starting with Grilled Chicken

Grilled Fish

Fusion Burgers

Cendol Songkok Tinggi

Durian Crepes

Char Kway Teow Food Truck

All-in-all, it has been a super fun and eye-opening experience for everyone at the HPPNK 2017. There are some much things for you to see, watch, explore and taste (many free-tasting booths). New technology, new concept and new inventions are all for us to check out this HPPNK 2017! as the vision of Pertanian adalah Perniagaan - Agriculture is Business.

Up close with the Malaysia Minister of Agriculture YB Dato' Sri Ahmad Shabery Cheek who made this event so successful.

Kim Ma Chinese Restaurant Palace of Golden Horses Hotel Delectable Dim Sum Menu Review

Dim Sum chefs have a great task in the continual quest to satisfy customers craving for new and special Dim Sum. With that Chef Roy Wong of Kim Ma Chinese Restaurant located at the Palace Of Golden Horses Hotel Seri Kembangan have created 9 special creations Dim Sum and invited +BestRestaurant ToEat to taste this new Dim Sum dishes.

With the new look of the restaurant, Kim Ma Chinese Restaurant needs no further introduction as a premium Chinese Restaurant with the setup of an elegant and posh restaurant setting.

According to Chef Roy, Kim Ma Chinese Restaurant are now offering small plate Dim Sum, so that customer can easily share and taste more of his specialty dishes. He quips that customer are so accustomed to their delicious Dim Sum and had wanted him to create some specialty Dim Sum dishes.

For Dim Sum lovers, Kim Ma Restaurant is having a promotion of the famed "Delectable Dim Sum" throughout the month of November 2015. Priced from RM11 Nett onwards, guest can enjoy a wide variety of daily offering for lunch.

Our gastro journey at Kim Ma Restaurant of the Special creation Dim Sum started with the Dried Scallop Dumpling With Caviar. Wrapped in a snow like skin, with dried scallop and topped with ebiko and caviar, it is a real delight to taste this steaming hot dumpling.

followed by the Baked Chicken Puffs in Abalone Sauce. Crusty puff with a strong butter flavour.

The third Dim Sum is the Fresh Prawns and Chicken Dumplings with Black Vinegar. Wrapped in a thin layer of skin, the succulent bouncy prawn was a delight to bite into.

after which is the Black Mushroom Dumplings With Abalone Sauce. Fried to a golden brown, this dumpling was a nice match to the abalone sauce that came separately with the dumplings.

The fifth dim sum is the Spring Roll With Enoki Mushroom and Chicken. I am not usually a fan of Spring Roll but with the tangy mushroom which was cooked with chicken as the filling; it gives the crunchy feel of the popiah skin while the enoki mushroom was a nice tasty option as a filling.

while the sixth is the Pan Fried Chives With Seafood; With a thin layer of sticky dough; it was very flavourful with plenty of chives and was very meaty.

followed by Baked Puff With Unagi. Nice crunch from the crust and the filling with unagi was a unique ingredient in a puff.

while the eighth dish which is a Charcoal bun i.e. the Steamed Buns With Red Dates. The Red Dates flavour and aroma can be a little challenge as we are more accustomed to flavours such as the Red Beans or Lotus paste; but this one has a very unique acquired taste.

The ninth and final Dim Sum for the special creation series is the Yuan Yang Glutinous Rice Dumpling. Made from black and white glutinous rice wrap in a Pao Filling.

If you are still craving for more Dim Sum, Kim Ma Restaurant have a "All You Can Eat Dim Sum" package at only RM65.00 nett per person (this package is only available on weekends and public holidays from 10am to 4pm).

Fish & Co – New Menu and Opening at The Mines Shopping Mall Seri Kembangan

Fish and Chips are a very common dish serves in many Western restaurants in town. Most of them tend to serve the breaded type i.e. which is coated with batter and deep fried. At Fish & Co, they are introducing 2 new type of Fish dishes to their menu.

At the opening of their fourth outlet on 20th May 2014 at Level 1, L1-100*102 Mines Shopping Mall, they also took the opportunity to introduce a couple of new seafood dishes and drinks.

At Fish & Co, they just not only serve you fish and chips (which they have many variations of how fish and chips can be served) but rather seafood i.e prawns, clams and squids with many variations either as grilled or deep fried.

As there are so many dishes to try out during the opening lunch, we were offered a delicious tasting platter, which consist of all the individual new dishes serves in a pan. It was a very creative way to let us taste all these new dishes without overwhelming our stomach.

The first new dish that was offered that caught my taste bud was the Baked White Fish with Mozzarella Cheese. I personally like this as the fish was coated with a layer of the Mozarella Cheese instead of breadcrumb. The fish was a little salty due to the cheese which if eaten together with the paella rice will be just right.

My second preference was the Grilled Parmesan White Fish. The fish fillet is stuffed with Parmesan Cheese and comes with Fish & Co Signature lemon sauce.

Clams with Sambal Sauce was next on my favorite list as the sambal was not too overwhelmingly spicy and would really goes well with the rice.
Next on the line is the Fried Chicken with Peri-Peri Prawn. For me the Fried Chicken was a little too dry and lack the crunchiness and crispiness of you know which other restaurant that serves the finger licking fried chicken I am talking about. The Fried Chicken menu was added to give additional meals for the whole family as some customer might not have inkling to seafood.

If you happen to go with a few friends or guest and not sure what to offer, you can opt for the Fisherman Platter, where you can sample a few of the dishes (different seafood) rather than ordering them as individual dishes. Among those seafood in the platter are the grilled calamari, mussels, fish fillet, baked prawns and grilled chicken. The Fisherman platters are served with mashed potatoes and the super delicious paella rice – for me it goes well with the seafood.

For those who love to eat the Fried version of seafood, you can order the Fry-Kings Platter which includes golden fried calamari, prawns fritters, white fish, fried chicken and curry butter clams. The side dishes serves together with this platter are the mashed potatoes and paella rice.

Although there were introducing 3 new drinks, my personal preference was on the Passion Fruit Mojito (pictured above). It is a lime with mint leaves and passion fruit. The combination is very refreshing especially on a hot day and also after a heavy meal. The other 2 drinks are Candy Crush – which I find it a little too sweet while the Peach Rainbow which is a concoction of peach and cranberry was just right.

In conjunction with the opening at Mines, they are treating customers with the Best Fish and Chips in Town for only RM 1.00 for the first 50 pax at 12pm and 6pm on Saturday and Sunday from 1st June 2014 to 15th June 2014.

So, if you game for some seafood, head over to Fish & Co and have your
Seafood Served In A Pan.
